About This Video
Welcome to an intensive 39-minute training session designed for the dedicated dancer. This advanced-level center barre class at Broche Ballet focuses on the pinnacle of classical technique: finding your own axis without the support of a physical barre. By removing the safety of the wall, dancers are forced to find their internal center, leading to a more grounded and professional performance aesthetic.
The lesson takes you through a full traditional sequence, beginning with foundational movements like demi-plié and grand plié. By removing the barre, we force the core to engage immediately, ensuring that every relevé is supported by internal strength rather than external leverage. You will work through articulated tendu and dégagé combinations that demand precision and speed, challenging your foot strength and weight placement.
As we move into more complex adagio and allegro preparation, the focus shifts to balance in one-legged positions. Exercises such as rond de jambe, fondu, and enveloppé require a deep understanding of turnout and alignment. Our instructor provides expert cues on maintaining the side of the body as a stable 'wall' during à la seconde movements, which is essential for preparing for powerful movements like grand battement and fouetté turns.
Beyond just the physical challenge, this class emphasizes the artistry of the upper body. Learn to coordinate fluid port de bras and specific head alignment with sharp, rhythmic footwork. This contrast creates the sophisticated look sought after in advanced ballet.
By practicing transitions like pas de cheval and temps lié in the center, you will build the confidence and stability needed for complex center-floor work and professional stage performance. Join us at Broche Ballet to refine your technique and push your boundaries.
