About This Video
Welcome to a focused, high-repetition practice session designed to solidify your technical foundation. At Broche Ballet, we understand that sometimes you need less verbal instruction and more time in the flow of movement. This Double Barre class is specifically structured to target the mechanics of the knees and hips, ensuring that every bend—from a simple demi-plié to a deep grand plié—is executed with proper alignment and maximum turnout.
Throughout this 47-minute session, you will engage in continuous combinations that challenge your muscle endurance and focus. We dive deep into the melting quality of the fondu, teaching you how to use your legs as a singular, powerful unit. By focusing on the standing leg's stability, you will learn to maintain your turnout even as the working leg moves through tendu, cou-de-pied, and retiré.
Precision is key; we emphasize the path of the foot and the engagement of the core to prevent injury and improve aesthetic lines. This class also explores the importance of rhythm and tempo. Dance isn't just about positions; it's about the timing between them.
You will practice transitions into arabesque and other extensions, learning to stabilize the torso while the lower body performs intricate work. The sequences include a variety of footwork exercises, starting with tendu to warm up the metatarsals. We then progress to more complex weight transfers, ensuring the landing is soft and controlled.
Each exercise is designed to build the strength required for center work, jumps, and turns. By the end of this session, you will feel a greater connection to your turnout and a more grounded sense of alignment. This is an ideal practice for dancers who want to bridge the gap between understanding a movement and making it second nature through muscle memory.
Join us at the barre and refine your technique through the power of repetition and mindful movement.
