About This Video
Welcome to a comprehensive intermediate ballet class dedicated to the art of dancing en pointe. At Broche Ballet, we believe that intermediate training is the bridge to artistry, and this 50-minute session is specifically designed to strengthen your foundation while challenging your balance. This class focuses on the critical transition from two hands on the barre to one, and ultimately moving into the center with confidence and grace.
The lesson begins with a focused series of barre exercises designed to warm up the feet and engage the core. You will work through meticulous tendu and plié combinations, ensuring that your weight is correctly placed over your pointe shoes. The instructor guides you through fondu and attitude movements, emphasizing the importance of melting with control and maintaining a square hip alignment.
A significant portion of the barre work is dedicated to single-leg relevés. Here, you will learn to push through the floor, articulating through the demi-pointe to reach full height en pointe, building the calf and intrinsic foot strength necessary for more advanced center work. As we progress into center exercises, the focus shifts to stability and transitions.
You will practice movements such as passé and arabesque, learning how to find your vertical axis without the constant support of the barre. The class introduces sauté movements en pointe, which are essential for developing the power to lift off the floor and land with cushioned control. We also explore tombé and bourrée sequences, teaching you how to move through space while maintaining the aesthetic lines of classical ballet.
Throughout the practice, the instructor provides detailed feedback on posture and turnout. You are encouraged to take your time with complex steps, prioritizing precision over speed. By the end of this session, you will have a deeper understanding of how to use your core to support your pointe work, allowing for more fluid and expressive movement.
