About This Video
Welcome to this comprehensive 45-minute intermediate pointe class at Broche Ballet, designed to elevate your technical precision and artistic expression. This session transitions from foundational barre work to challenging center combinations, with a specific emphasis on the mechanics of turns and the fluid execution of the rénversé. We begin at the barre with a single-hand grip to encourage greater autonomy and core engagement.
Throughout the barre sequence, we focus on the essential building blocks of pointe work: strong tendu movements, controlled plié, and sharp relevé. A highlight of the barre portion is the introduction and refinement of the rénversé, a movement that requires a delicate balance of strength in the supporting leg and flexibility in the torso. By practicing this at the barre, you will build the necessary muscle memory to eventually bring this movement into the center.
As we move into the center, the focus shifts toward stability and rotation. We break down the mechanics of the pirouette, specifically focusing on the preparation from fourth position. You will learn how to find your vertical axis quickly in passé and how to utilize a sharp whip of the head and arms to complete clean rotations.
Balancing exercises in arabesque and passé will challenge your stability and help you find your center en pointe. The class concludes with a series of dance combinations that integrate these skills, including pas de bourrée, balancé, and fouetté en face. By focusing on the alignment of the hips and the engagement of the turnout muscles, you will feel more secure in every movement.
We emphasize the importance of the supporting side and ensuring that the transition into pas de bourrée remains fluid and light. Finally, we end with a traditional révérence including balances, allowing you to finish with poise and grace. Join Broche Ballet and discover the joy of intermediate pointe work.
