About This Video
Welcome to a challenging and rewarding intermediate ballet class at Broche Ballet, specifically designed for those looking to elevate their en pointe practice. This comprehensive 42-minute session bridges the gap between the barre and the center, pushing your technical boundaries while maintaining the artistry of movement. By focusing on both stability and speed, this class helps you transition from basic exercises to complex, fluid combinations.
We begin with a series of demanding 1-hand on barre exercises. Moving away from a two-handed grip requires a higher level of core engagement and proprioception, simulating the balance needed for center work. Throughout the barre segment, we focus on the intricate mechanics of pointe shoe work, emphasizing quick footwork and precise placement.
You will refine fundamental movements such as tendu, plié, and relevé while en pointe, ensuring every transition is crisp and controlled. The center portion of the class dives deep into pirouette technique and momentum. We explore how to generate speed by pushing effectively from the ground using both legs in soutenu movements.
You will learn the importance of launching yourself up from the standing leg to create the necessary space and lift for a successful turn. To build mastery, we practice quarter turns and specific landings. The goal is to land exactly where you plan, developing the control and specificity required for professional-level execution.
Our combinations include sequences like tombé, pas de bourrée, and chassé into arabesque, where we focus on maintaining a light, confident quality even during difficult transitions. We emphasize the role of a strong core and proper turnout in achieving stability in fourth position and passé. By the end of this session, you will have a better understanding of how a deep plié serves as the foundation for power and how to use your body to stay light on your feet.
