About This Video
At Broche Ballet, we believe that the grace of dance extends far beyond the physical studio walls. Our 'Meditation for Sleeping' is an 11-minute guided experience specifically designed to help you transition from the high-energy demands of the day into a state of profound relaxation. By combining the structured beauty of a ballet class with mindful visualization, this session allows you to mentally practice your technique while simultaneously calming your nervous system.
You will begin by settling into a comfortable position in bed, letting go of the day's stresses, and focusing on a soft, rhythmic breath. Imagine yourself in a serene, quiet ballet studio—the air is cool, the lighting is warm, and the atmosphere is one of total peace. As you stand tall at the mental barre, you will be guided through a series of foundational movements.
You will visualize four deep pliés in first, second, fourth, and fifth positions, syncing each demi-plié with a purposeful breath. The meditation moves into fluid rond de jambe, where you feel the sensation of your toes circling the floor, followed by a circular port de bras that encourages your body to expand and contract naturally. You will find a moment of still, calm balance in a sus-sous before moving into 'de la paix,' where each extension of the leg feels like a natural continuation of your breath.
To finish, you will imagine yourself lying on the studio floor, feeling as light as a cloud as your body grows heavier and sinks deeper into stillness. This visualization not only reinforces your muscle memory and ballet terminology but also acts as a powerful sleep induction tool. Let the soft piano music and the rhythmic movement of the barre carry you into your dreams, ensuring you wake up refreshed and ready for your next real-world class.
