About This Video
Welcome to an intensive Broche Ballet session dedicated to the art of pointe work. This forty-minute session is split into two focused segments: a 25-minute barre routine followed by 15 minutes of dynamic center practice. Our primary goal is to bridge the gap between technical strength at the barre and fluid expression in the center, specifically targeting piqué movements and complex traveling sequences.
We begin at the barre with foundational exercises designed to warm up the ankles and engage the core. You will work through tendu and plié sequences, ensuring your feet are fully prepared for the demands of dancing en pointe. The focus here is on toe-ball-heel articulation and finding a deep connection with the floor.
By spending significant time on piqué and sous-sus at the barre, you build the muscle memory required for the more challenging center work to follow. In the second half of the class, we move to the center to apply these skills to traveling combinations. You will practice the soutenu turn, focusing on a clean cross and sharp finish.
The instructor guides you through a complex sequence involving failli, pas de chat, and piqué arabesque. One of the key takeaways from this lesson is the importance of making the shape right away—finding your line the moment your foot meets the floor to ensure stability and aesthetic precision. Throughout the class, we emphasize the role of breathing in establishing confidence.
Transitioning from the support of the barre to the open floor can be intimidating, but by maintaining intensity in the feet and a strong connection through the shoulders, you will find greater control. Whether you are refining your piqué arabesque or working on the smoothness of a pas de chat, this class provides the professional feedback and repetitive practice needed to master advanced pointe technique.
