About This Video
Welcome to Broche Ballet’s specialized session on foundational pointe work. This 30-minute class is designed to bridge the gap between basic movements and professional-level control. Whether you are relatively new to dancing en pointe or an intermediate dancer seeking to refine your technique, this barre-focused practice provides the essential drills needed for success.
We begin with a thorough warm-up focusing on the intrinsic muscles of the feet. Through demi-plié and tendu sequences, we emphasize the importance of articulation—literally "talking" with your feet as you roll through the demi-pointe and the box of your shoes. This tactile connection is crucial for both safety and aesthetic beauty.
Stability is the cornerstone of pointe work. Our lesson incorporates parallel drills specifically designed to align the ankles and prevent sickling, ensuring a perfectly vertical rise onto the platform. You will practice various relevé patterns that challenge your turnout and core engagement.
A key technical focus in this session is the precise placement of the coup-de-pied. We discuss how to align the foot accurately with the ribbons just above the ankle bone to ensure a secure and stable attachment. As we progress through the barre, we introduce more complex combinations including petit développé with double frappés and piqué arabesque.
One of the standout elements of this class is the refined approach to the tombé. Rather than treating it as a literal "fall," we teach you to execute it as a smooth, controlled transition. By rolling through the foot with grace and musicality, you transform a simple step into an adagio-quality movement.
Finally, we work on balance by practicing controlled, straight-leg descents from relevé. By letting go of the barre and focusing on centering your weight, you will build the confidence and strength required for center work. Join Broche Ballet to elevate your artistry and master the intricacies of pointe technique.
