About This Video
Looking to take your training to the next level? Welcome to the Super Sweaty Speed Barre at Broche Ballet. This 34-minute session is specifically designed for the intermediate to advanced dancer who wants to minimize talk and maximize movement.
It is a speed barre in the truest sense—we move quickly through traditional sequences, challenging your muscle memory and cardiovascular endurance while maintaining the grace of classical dance. Our focus throughout this session is the intersection of speed and precision. We begin by warming up the joints through deep plié exercises and articulate tendu work.
A recurring theme in this class is the stabilization of the torso; you will learn to keep the spine remarkably still even as the legs move through complex patterns. We pay special attention to the cou-de-pied and passé positions, emphasizing the importance of the pinky toe lift to ensure your turnout remains active and your weight stays centered over the standing leg. As the tempo picks up, we transition into fondu and développé combinations.
Here, the challenge is maintaining the height of the working leg without sacrificing the integrity of the standing side. We push you to engage your obliques and deep core muscles to prevent any leaning or compensation in the upper body during high-intensity movements. When we reach the arabesque and sous-sus portions of the barre, the goal is total control and balance.
You will work on pushing your arch up through the foot to create a beautiful, finished line from the hip to the tips of the toes. This class isn't just about the physical workout; it is about refining the ballet brain—the ability to process combinations quickly while maintaining impeccable form. Join the Broche Ballet community for this invigorating practice and feel the difference that high-intensity, technique-driven training can make in your daily dancing.
