About This Video
Welcome to this specialized Technique Barre session at Broche Ballet, designed to deepen your understanding of pelvic alignment and its critical role in stability. In this class, we move beyond simple repetition to explore the intricate mechanics of how the pelvis sits over the femur head. Achieving a neutral yet active pelvis is the secret to finding balance and power in advanced movements like arabesque and tombé.
The primary focus of this practice is the standing leg. Many dancers mistakenly focus on the working leg's height or reach, but true control originates from the leg supporting your weight. Throughout the exercises—including tendu, plié, and our specific fondu attaché combinations—you will learn to drive the hip of the standing leg forward and under.
This action creates a strong tower, preventing the common pitfall of sitting into the hip or losing the core connection. We pay special attention to the fondu attaché. By utilizing smaller pliés, we can isolate the placement of the pelvis and ensure it remains anchored.
This foundational work pays off significantly when transitioning into more complex movements. For instance, when executing a tombé or holding a high arabesque, the stability of your torso depends on the relationship between your front hip and back glute. By pressing the hip up and pulling the glute against it, you create the necessary resistance for a long, controlled line.
Join us at the barre to refine your posture, strengthen your standing leg, and find the structural integrity required for professional-level ballet. Whether you are working on your port de bras or perfecting your turnout, this class provides the technical cues you need to elevate your artistry.
