About This Video
Embrace your inner butterfly or dragon in our unique Wings & Cape Ballet Party class! At Broche Ballet, we believe that dance is not just about perfect technique, but also about the joy of storytelling and creative expression. This Halloween-themed session invites you to grab your favorite set of wings or a flowing cape and join us for a high-energy dance fitness experience that blends classical movements with theatrical flair.
During this 36-minute session, we explore the intricate art of fabric manipulation. Dancing with props requires a heightened sense of spatial awareness and upper-body control. You will learn how to open and reveal your wings to create dramatic visual effects, as well as how to hide and sweep the fabric to mimic the natural movements of animals and mythical creatures.
Whether you are wearing monarch wings, a bat cape, or a dragon suit, the principles of movement remain the same: coordination and grace. We incorporate essential ballet terminology into our choreography to ensure your foundation remains strong. Expect to practice your chassé across the floor and find stability in your plié while managing the extra weight and wind resistance of your costume.
We will work on posé and turns, focusing on keeping the fabric aloft and purposeful rather than letting it become a distraction. The class features a curated selection of music, including pieces from the 'Carnival of the Animals,' providing the perfect backdrop for character work. By imagining yourself as a different creature, you will find new ways to use your breath and port de bras.
This class is more than just a workout; it is an opportunity to practice rehearsal skills and master the complex coordination required to incorporate props into a performance. Come prepared to move, sweat, and fly with the Broche Ballet community in this festive, imaginative celebration of dance.
