About This Video
Welcome to a comprehensive 45-minute All-level Ballet Barre class designed to bridge the gap between foundational exercises and dynamic center work. At Broche Ballet, we believe that every movement at the barre serves a functional purpose. This session focuses heavily on foundational precision, weight placement, and the specific mechanics required for powerful jumps and leaps.
We begin with a thorough series of exercises including demi plié, grand plié, and tendu, where the primary technical focus is on ankle alignment. You will learn the importance of pressing through the big toe joint during every relevé and rise to avoid the common mistake of rolling toward the pinky toe. This stabilization is crucial for long-term joint health and balance.
As the class progresses through dégagé and ronds de jambe, we introduce "mayhem" musicality. Set to the lively rhythm of "The Entertainer," you will challenge your coordination with fast-paced footwork, incorporating coupé changes and pas de cheval. This segment is designed to sharpen your brain-to-body connection and improve your speed in petite allegro.
One of the most unique aspects of this class is the focus on grand battement from the fourth position. By explicitly linking this barre exercise to the power needed for grand jeté and saut de chat, you will learn how to push through the floor and engage the correct muscles for explosive height in your leaps. Throughout the class, we also emphasize the upper body, specifically maintaining lifted elbows in port de bras to create a supported, elegant frame.
Whether you are working on your en cloche movements or refining the weight transfer in a tombé and fondu sequence, this class provides the technical cues necessary to elevate your practice. Join us at the barre to refine your transitions, build functional strength, and bring more intention to your ballet technique.
