About This Video
Welcome to a comprehensive 52-minute All-level Ballet Barre session designed to elevate your technique through mindful, consistent practice. At Broche Ballet, we believe that the barre is the vital foundation of every dancer’s journey, regardless of their experience level. This session focuses on the essential building blocks of classical dance, emphasizing the harmony between proper alignment, strength, and artistic expression.
Throughout this intensive class, you will be guided through a series of exercises that challenge both your physical coordination and your mental focus. We begin with fluid port de bras and cambré, emphasizing the importance of an allongé line and the graceful coordination of the arms, head, and torso. As we transition into tendu and dégagé work, the instruction shifts to the precision of the feet and the necessity of articulating through the floor to build speed and clarity.
You will learn to maintain a stable turnout and core engagement while exploring more complex extensions like développé and attitude. A significant portion of this practice is dedicated to the mechanics of weight transfer and power. We dive deep into en cloche movements, teaching you how to utilize downward floor pressure to create a sharp, controlled flick of the leg.
This preparation leads directly into the grand battement portion of the class. The grand battement sequence follows a precise pattern—front, side, back, passé, and back, side, front, passé—designed to improve hip mobility and explosive leg strength on both sides of the body. The session concludes with intentional finishing poses and balances.
These moments allow you to find your center and test your stability after the physical exertion of the barre. Whether you choose a classic retiré balance or attempt a finishing pirouette, you will leave the class feeling grounded and refined.
