About This Video
Transitioning to dancing en pointe is a monumental milestone in a dancer's journey. At Broche Ballet, we believe this transition should be safe, supported, and technically sound. Our Beginner Pointe application process is designed to give you a clear roadmap from your soft shoes to your very first pair of pointe shoes. This video explains how the application works and why it is a vital step for your safety and success in ballet.
The application consists of a questionnaire and a specific video submission. This is not a high-pressure audition, but rather a low-risk way to receive professional feedback on your technique. During the review, we look for four critical markers of readiness: the strength of your relevé, the alignment of your plié, the articulation of your tendu, and your overall foot shape from multiple angles. Our goal is to ensure your ankles and feet can handle the unique demands of pointe work without risk of injury.
Once you submit your application, you will receive personalized feedback. If you are approved, you will be granted access to our comprehensive guide for your first pointe shoe fitting. This guide covers everything from how to prepare your toenails to what questions you should ask your professional fitter. We also provide tips on setting up your home barre and flooring to ensure a professional practice environment.
If you aren't quite ready to go en pointe just yet, please don't be discouraged. Most dancers require a few attempts to meet the readiness criteria. In these cases, we provide a specific plan for improvement. You can use our specialized planners or even upgrade to a Foot360 consultation for an in-depth analysis of your biomechanics. Remember, the journey to pointe is a process that requires patience and dedication. Start your application by January 14 to begin your journey with Broche Ballet.
