About This Video
Elevate your technique with our specialized "Barre in Pointe Shoes" class at Broche Ballet. This session is meticulously designed to help intermediate and advanced dancers master the art of foot alignment, focusing specifically on the "winging" of the feet and ankles to create a stunning classical line. One of the most common challenges in pointe work is the tendency to sickle; this class provides the technical corrections and strength-building exercises needed to eliminate that habit and ensure safety en pointe.
Throughout this 34-minute practice, our expert instructors guide you through a comprehensive barre sequence. You will focus on the articulation of the foot, working through the demi-pointe on every transition to ensure you are fully utilizing the mechanics of your pointe shoes. We dive deep into exercises like pas de cheval and grand battement, executed en croix to challenge your stability and alignment from every angle.
By emphasizing the "shaping" of the toes inside the shoe, you will learn how to maintain a firm standing leg while executing fluid movements with the working leg. A significant portion of the class is dedicated to the proper execution of the coupé and fondu, ensuring that the back foot remains firm and the movement is clearly shown before transitioning. We also explore developpé and tombé sequences, teaching you how to maintain your center of gravity while shifting weight.
Whether you are finishing your combinations with a balance on flat or a challenging relevé, you will gain the confidence to control your placement. By the end of this session, you will have a better understanding of how to work your shoes on the way out and in, avoiding discomfort and preventing injury. Join us at Broche Ballet to refine your technique, strengthen your ankles, and achieve the graceful, winged look that defines professional pointe work.
