About This Video
Welcome to a comprehensive beginner ballet session designed to build a strong technical foundation through focused repetition and expert guidance. This 75-minute class is split into two essential segments: 50 minutes of intensive barre work followed by 25 minutes of center practice. At Broche Ballet, we believe that the secret to a graceful performance lies in the precision of the fundamentals, and this class focuses specifically on the art of weight transfer and fluid movement.
We begin at the barre, where you will refine your posture and alignment through plié and tendu sequences. A significant focus is placed on the B+ position, ensuring the big toenail remains in contact with the floor to maintain stability and readiness. From there, we transition into movements like the sous-sus, where you will learn the mechanics of a sharp, clean draw-up to the fifth position on two feet before finishing with poise.
The second portion of the class moves to the center, where we apply the strength built at the barre to dynamic combinations. You will practice an adagio and a waltz sequence that integrates the balancé, tombé, and pas de bourrée. These steps are the building blocks of balletic travel, and your instructor provides detailed feedback on how to shift your weight gracefully without losing your center of gravity.
We also explore port de bras (arm movements) and the allongé line to add a layer of expression to your dancing. The class concludes with an elegant arabesque and a traditional révérence. We take the time to acknowledge the orchestra and audience, teaching you the etiquette of the studio along with the physical steps.
Whether you are revisiting the basics or building confidence for the first time, this class offers a supportive environment to grow your skills.
