About This Video
Welcome to a specialized session with Broche Ballet designed to take your training to the next level. In this comprehensive 42-minute practice, we transition away from the physical barre to challenge your stability, core strength, and fundamental technique. This beginner-friendly center barre class is perfect for dancers who want to develop their 'internal barre'—the essential ability to maintain upright alignment and balance without relying on external support.
Throughout the class, we dive deep into essential movements such as the dégagé and passé. You will learn how to keep your port de bras steady and calm while your legs execute precise patterns. Our instructor emphasizes the importance of proper alignment, ensuring that your shoulders remain depressed and your spine stays elongated.
A significant portion of the class is dedicated to the rond de jambe. We focus on keeping the torso completely still as the leg carves a circular path on the floor, correcting the common mistake of letting the hips or body shift with the movement of the leg. As the session progresses, we increase the tempo to challenge your musicality and coordination.
We also introduce light jumping, where the focus remains on maintaining a long, clean line from head to heel and prioritizing the quality of the landing over the height of the jump. Whether you are practicing in a home studio or a living room, this session provides the professional guidance needed to refine your ballet technique. By working in the center, you will naturally improve your turnout and weight placement, skills that are vital for advancing to more complex combinations and across-the-floor work.
