About This Video
Welcome to Week 12 of the Broche Ballet 16-week Beginner Pointe program. At this stage in your journey, the focus shifts toward consistency, muscle memory, and refining the intricate footwork required for stable pointe work. This class is designed to help you transition from the basic mechanics of standing en pointe to the fluid movements necessary for classical combinations.
Throughout this 30-minute practice, we delve deep into repetitions of fundamental movements. We begin by mastering the pas de bourrée, ensuring we avoid common mistakes in foot placement. You will learn how to use your toes within the shoe to find a secure platform, focusing on pushing up through the heel to achieve a full relevé.
A significant portion of today’s session is dedicated to the échappé. This 'escaping' movement is a cornerstone of pointe technique. We focus on the 'scoop'—using the toes to initiate the movement and maintaining a controlled roll down through the front of the shoe.
By repeating these drills, you develop the strength required to move between positions without losing your alignment or turnout. We also explore the pas tombé and passé transitions. The instructor emphasizes leaning over the shoe and reaching through the toes to maintain balance.
You will practice the sous-sus, focusing on the precise alignment of the feet and the 'zip-up' feeling through the inner thighs. To ensure longevity and prevent injury, we incorporate demi-pliés to stretch the backs of the legs and reset the ankles between sets. Whether you are practicing at home or in a studio, this class provides the technical breakdown needed to feel confident en pointe.
By focusing on the details of toe placement and weight distribution, you will build a solid foundation for the final weeks of the program and your future ballet training.
