About This Video
Welcome to Class 8 of the Broche Ballet Beginner Pointe 16-week program. This milestone session marks the halfway point of your foundational journey, transitioning from isolated exercises into more complex, fast-paced combinations that challenge your stamina and technical precision. In this class, we synthesize the movements practiced over the previous weeks while introducing one of the most vital elements of intermediate work: the plié en pointe.
Executing a plié en pointe requires a delicate balance of strength and flexibility. We focus on maintaining vertical alignment through the spine and hips while ensuring the knees track over the toes, preventing any sinking into the pointe shoe box. This exercise is crucial for developing the power needed for future jumps and transitions en pointe.
The curriculum for this session also dives deep into the articulation of the feet. We explore pas de cheval, emphasizing the importance of peeling the foot off the floor and bending the shoe correctly to achieve a graceful, horse-like step. This is paired with pas de bourrée and bourrées, where we work on speed and fluidity.
Our instructor provides real-time corrections on cou-de-pied placement and the necessary overcross and uncross movements in sous-sus to ensure your lines remain clean and professional. Beyond the technical steps, Class 8 focuses heavily on stretching and recovery. We dedicate time to the Achilles tendon and the intricate muscles of the feet, ensuring you maintain the flexibility required to work through the demi-pointe safely.
Whether you are refining your ribbons or perfecting your roll-down, this class provides the comprehensive feedback needed to advance with confidence. At Broche Ballet, we believe in a safe and structured approach to pointe work. Please ensure you have received approval from a professional ballet teacher before beginning this program to protect your long-term foot health and technique.
