About This Video
" This 15-minute nonstop practice is designed specifically for intermediate and advanced dancers looking to refine their stability and foot articulation while en pointe. Unlike a traditional slow-paced class, this session keeps you moving, building the stamina required for longer variations and stage performances. The primary focus of this workout is balance.
Throughout the 15 minutes, you will engage in a series of relevé and sous-sus exercises designed to find your center and strengthen the intrinsic muscles of the feet. We emphasize the "sweep" technique—ensuring that your foot sweeps across the floor from underneath during dégagé and transitions, rather than simply lifting and placing. This subtle shift in mechanics is the secret to achieving the fluid, professional look characteristic of elite dancers.
To increase the challenge, many of the exercises, particularly the dégagé and passé sequences, are performed with just one hand on the barre. This forces the core to engage and requires the dancer to maintain a square pelvis and upright posture without relying on external support. We will also work through plié and coupé movements to ensure that the transition between flat and en pointe is seamless and controlled.
Whether you are a busy adult dancer fitting in a quick workout or an advanced student looking for a vigorous warm-up, this nonstop pointework class provides the structure you need to see real progress.
