This 36-minute session is designed for the dancer who knows their way around the barre and is ready to push their cardiovascular endurance alongside their technique. By minimizing instructional breaks, we create a high-energy environment that mimics the physical demands of center work and allegro, all within the structure of a traditional barre.
Throughout this session, we dive deep into the mechanics of leg control and speed. We begin with rapid-fire pliés and tendus to wake up the feet before moving into more complex combinations. You will focus on the precision of the fondu—ensuring that the melting action of the supporting and working legs is perfectly synchronized to build incredible lower-body strength. We then elevate the intensity with sequences featuring développé, enveloppé, and soutenu, challenging your ability to maintain a calm upper body while your legs work at a demanding pace.
The class places a heavy emphasis on the transition from slow control to explosive power. We work through petit battement at varying heights to refine footwork speed and conclude the barre with dynamic grand battement. By maintaining a sharp focus on your alignment—especially during extensions à la seconde and in your arabesque—you will build the functional strength necessary for more advanced ballet repertoire.
