About This Video
Welcome to the Super Sweaty Speed Barre at Broche Ballet—a session specifically designed for dancers who want to keep moving. This class follows the philosophy of "less instruction, more dancing," making it the ideal choice for intermediate to advanced students who already have a grasp of the fundamentals and want to build cardiovascular endurance alongside their technical precision. In just under 40 minutes, you will work through a comprehensive sequence that challenges your coordination, muscle memory, and physical stamina.
Throughout the workout, we emphasize the importance of maintaining proper posture and core engagement, even as the tempo increases. We dive deep into complex sequences involving fondu and développé, focusing on the "melting" quality of the standing leg and the controlled extension of the working leg. You will also practice grand battement with an emphasis on power and stability, ensuring your torso remains quiet while your legs reach their full range of motion. Special attention is given to positions like arabesque, where we focus on maintaining the connection between the calf and hamstring as long as possible to create a long, elegant line.
Beyond the legs, this Speed Barre class focuses heavily on port de bras. Managing arm movements during quick combinations is a common challenge for many dancers; here, you will learn how to keep your arms fluid and intentional even when the footwork becomes fast and intricate. We also work on the opposition of forces, teaching you how to push down through your upper body to find more lift and stability in your relevé and sous-sus. Whether you are preparing for a performance or simply looking for a rigorous daily practice, this Broche Ballet session will leave you feeling stronger, more aligned, and definitely a little sweaty.
