About This Video
Welcome to this energetic, fast-paced beginner ballet barre class with Broche Ballet. If you have mastered the basic mechanics of ballet and are ready to take your training to the next level by adding speed and complexity, this session is designed specifically for you. While many beginner classes focus solely on slow, deliberate movements, this class challenges you to maintain your form while moving through combinations at a more traditional dance tempo.
Throughout this 43-minute session, we focus on fundamental movements including the plié, tendu, and dégagé. A significant portion of the class is dedicated to the grand battement, emphasizing how to throw the leg with power while keeping the supporting side stable. You will work through combinations en croix—front, side, back, side—which are essential for building muscle memory and spatial awareness.
One of the core technical focuses of this class is spinal stability. As the speed of the music increases, it becomes more tempting to let the torso move with the legs. Our instructor provides detailed cues to help you keep your spine still, ensuring that the movement comes purely from the hip socket.
Additionally, you will practice integrated port de bras. Learning to coordinate your arms with your leg movements is not just about aesthetics; it is a functional tool that helps with balance and control, especially during passé holds and arabesque extensions. By the end of this practice, you will have a better understanding of how to execute complex footwork with precision and control.
We encourage you to start slowly if needed, but the goal of this class is to gradually increase your comfort level with faster transitions. Consistency is key to mastering these movements. Whether you are practicing in a studio or from the comfort of your home, Broche Ballet is here to support your journey toward becoming a more confident and technical dancer.
