About This Video
Welcome to Broche Ballet’s Fast-Paced Beginner Ballet Barre. This 38-minute practice is specifically designed for dancers who have mastered the absolute basics and are ready to increase the tempo while maintaining impeccable form. In this session, we dive deep into the mechanics of the grand battement, ensuring that your leg movements remain powerful yet controlled.
One of the primary focuses of this class is the connection between steps. Rather than treating each movement as an isolated event, we work on fluidity. You will practice transitioning smoothly from tendu into tombé and adagio movements, emphasizing correct weight distribution and momentum.
A common challenge for beginner dancers is maintaining a stable pelvis during high leg extensions; our instructor provides specific cues to help you avoid tipping or leaning, particularly during extensions to the back. Proper footwork is also at the forefront of this practice. We emphasize pushing through the floor to achieve a beautiful demi-pointe and eventual lift.
By focusing on the distance the foot travels away from the body before leaving the floor, you will develop the strength and aesthetics required for more advanced training. Throughout the barre, we address arm placement and cambré, ensuring that your upper body supports your leg work without creating unnecessary tension or disrupting the flow of the movement. Whether you are looking to refine your technique, improve your balance, or build stamina, this fast-paced barre offers the perfect blend of challenge and instruction to help you reach your dance goals.
