About This Video
Welcome to a focused technical session with Broche Ballet. This 25-minute practice is dedicated entirely to the bedrock of classical ballet: the plié and the tendu. Whether you are using this as a comprehensive warmup for a full class or as a standalone session to refine your precision, these exercises are essential for building the strength and muscle memory required for advanced movement.
We begin at the barre, working through various positions to master the mechanics of the plié. A correct plié is more than just a bend; it is the source of power for every jump and the secret to soft, controlled landings. Throughout the session, we emphasize proper alignment, tracking the knees over the toes, and maintaining a strong, engaged core to support your turnout.
Following our pliés, we transition into detailed tendu sequences. Often overlooked as a simple foot stretch, the tendu is vital for developing the articulation and speed necessary for complex footwork. You will practice transitioning through demi-pointe to reach a full, elegant extension, focusing on the resistance of the floor to build foot strength.
This class also incorporates elements of promenade and intentional arm placement to ensure full-body coordination. We explore different rhythms and time signatures, including 2/4 and 3/4, to sharpen your musicality while maintaining technical control. By the end of this session, you will have a deeper understanding of your posture and a more grounded presence at the barre.
Mastery in ballet is achieved through the repetition of these fundamental elements, and this video provides the perfect environment to perfect your form under expert guidance.
