About This Video
Welcome to this specialized Broche Ballet class focused on the foundational strength required for pre-pointe and pointe work. For any dancer, the transition to dancing en pointe is a major milestone, but it requires a base of stability, flexibility, and muscular engagement that begins long before the shoes are ever tied. This session is designed to help you build that necessary foundation by focusing on the intricate mechanics of the foot and ankle.
We dive deep into the anatomy of a high demi-pointe, teaching you how to properly engage the tibialis posterior muscle. This specific muscle is essential for pulling through the arch and supporting your body weight safely. Throughout the class, you will learn how to shape and curve the bottom of the foot, ensuring your weight is distributed correctly through the toes and into the floor.
The exercises guide you through rolling up in parallel and performing a relevé with precision. We also explore the challenge of maintaining that critical arch shape during a plié. By focusing on the 'basement' or the underside of the foot, you will develop the control necessary to avoid 'sickling' and improve your overall alignment.
Regular practice of these foot and ankle stretches will not only prepare you for pointe shoes but also improve your balance and power in all ballet movements. Join Broche Ballet as we elevate your technique from the ground up, ensuring your feet are as strong as they are elegant.
