About This Video
As we close the chapter on another year, there is no better way to reflect than through the intentional movements of a ballet révérence. This special Broche Ballet class is designed to help you process the journey of 2020 through grace, breath, and movement. A révérence is more than just a bow; it is a moment of gratitude for the music, the teachers, the audience, and your own body's ability to dance.
This session focuses on the artistic nuances of the traditional ceremony that concludes every professional ballet class. You will begin with the right foot front, moving through a delicate allongé that sets a reflective tone for the practice. We emphasize the importance of deep, rhythmic breath, moving fluidly through first position before opening the arms to a wide second position.
This sequence invites you to engage in the beautiful tradition of thanking the imaginary orchestra and balcony, connecting your home practice to the grand stages of the ballet world. The choreography includes coordinated curtsies and bows, where we focus on the tilt of the head, the placement of the chest, and the direction of the gaze. You will practice stepping to B+ to perform these gestures on both sides, ensuring a balanced and symmetrical expression of gratitude.
We also incorporate a sweeping movement through a rond de jambe, where the foot and hand move together in a harmonious circle, culminating in a symbolic moment where you collect your experiences and bring them to your chest. Whether you are an intermediate dancer or just starting your journey, this class offers a space for mindfulness. By keeping the knees slightly bent and the chest forward, you create a posture of openness and humility.
Join us as we sweep away the challenges of the past year and nod toward a bright future. This practice is a perfect example of how Broche Ballet combines technical precision with the emotional artistry of dance.
