About This Video
Welcome to Broche Ballet’s Super Sweaty Speed Barre, a high-energy session designed for dancers who want to maximize their practice time without sacrificing form. This class is uniquely structured with less instruction and more dancing, allowing you to flow through essential exercises with minimal interruption. If you already have a solid foundation in ballet, this class is the perfect way to challenge your stamina while maintaining technical excellence.
Throughout this 41-minute session, we move through a comprehensive series of barre exercises, starting with deep, controlled plié and moving into intricate tendu. The pace is brisk, requiring sharp mental focus and physical agility. You will work on your fondu and dégagé movements, emphasizing the melting quality and sharp extensions that define these steps.
We also focus heavily on port de bras and head coordination, ensuring that even at high speeds, your movements remain graceful and expressive. By keeping the chest open and framing your face correctly during reaches, you create a beautiful line that carries through every combination. A key highlight of this class is the focus on turns and stability.
You will practice the preparation and execution of a pirouette and sous-sus, learning how to keep the barre arm relaxed to facilitate a clean rotation. The instructor provides targeted cues to help you push through the heel during tendu for better balance and squeeze the inner thighs during fondu for increased power and lift. You will also practice bonding movements, focusing on gentle control and firmness to ensure every transition is as precise as the main positions.
This Speed Barre is not just about the sweat—it's about refinement. By moving quickly through familiar patterns, you train your body to react instinctively. This helps bridge the gap between slow practice and the demands of center work and choreography.
