About This Video
Looking to push your limits and build real-world dance stamina? Welcome to the Super Sweaty Speed Barre at Broche Ballet. This class is designed specifically for dancers who want less instruction and more movement.
By increasing the tempo of traditional exercises, we challenge your cardiovascular endurance while demanding strict adherence to technical form. We begin with a series of grand pliés designed to establish your center and build the leg strength needed for a high-intensity session. The goal here is to stay lifted and up and back, avoiding the common mistake of falling forward into the movement.
From there, we transition into quick tendu combinations to get the body moving and test your balance at speed. One of the core focuses of this session is the mechanics of turning. Many dancers rely too heavily on their legs to generate force for a pirouette.
In this class, you will learn to drive your turns with your shoulders, ensuring a cleaner finish and better control. Whether you are practicing a passé or a full rotation, maintaining a strong, quiet upper body is key. We also explore the importance of not opening the shoulder too early during a swing, keeping the alignment square and functional.
Throughout the barre, you will be encouraged to take risks. From challenging arabesque balances to fluid développé transitions, this practice is about finding where your limits are and pushing slightly beyond them. By the time we reach the grand battements, your core should be fully engaged, supporting your posture as you maintain high energy through the final combinations.
Join us for a session that prioritizes the dance in dance training, helping you transition from technical exercises to artistic performance with speed and grace.
