About This Video
Welcome to the Super Sweaty Speed Barre session at Broche Ballet, where we prioritize continuous movement and high-energy flow. This 37-minute class is specifically designed for the intermediate to advanced dancer who is ready to move past the breakdown of basic steps and dive straight into the physical execution of a rigorous barre routine. By reducing the time spent on verbal instruction, we create a flow state environment that mimics the pacing of professional company classes, helping you build the endurance and muscle memory required for longer variations.
The class begins with quick-fire tendu and dégagé sequences to wake up the feet and establish a strong connection to the floor. As the tempo increases, we move into more complex adagio movements. You will work through deep, controlled fondu exercises, focusing on the simultaneous bending and straightening of both legs to achieve that melting quality even at a faster pace.
We then transition into rond de jambe and développé, where the challenge lies in maintaining turnout and hip alignment while moving through the positions without hesitation. A significant portion of this Speed Barre is dedicated to preparing the body for center work. We incorporate specific preparations for pirouettes, focusing on the mechanics of en dehors and en dedans turns.
By practicing these rotations at the barre, you can isolate your core engagement and spotting technique before taking them to the floor. The session culminates in powerful grand battement exercises, designed to push your range of motion and dynamic strength. Throughout the workout, pay close attention to your posture and core engagement.
The speed of the combinations requires a stable center to prevent swaying during large movements. This class serves as a perfect warm-up for a full center practice or as a standalone intensive for those days when you need to feel the burn in a shorter timeframe. Prepare to sweat, refine your alignment, and find your flow at the barre.
