About This Video
Welcome to Super Sweaty Speed Barre at Broche Ballet, a class designed specifically for dancers who want to move past the explanations and get straight into the flow. This 37-minute high-intensity practice is built on the philosophy of less instruction, more dancing, making it the perfect choice for those days when you want to feel the burn and refine your muscle memory through continuous movement. In this session, we challenge your technical foundations by increasing the tempo of traditional barre exercises.
We cover everything from foundational plié and tendu work to complex rond de jambe and enveloppé combinations. By working at a faster pace, you will learn how to maintain your turnout and alignment even when the music demands quick transitions. We pay special attention to the mechanics of the foot, ensuring the heel comes forward and the knees remain turned out to maximize the line and stability of each movement.
Core engagement is the backbone of this class. To find power in your grand battement and control in your attitude swings, you must have a rock-solid center. We explore the power up and power down accents, teaching you how to fire the muscles quickly for an extension and control the descent with grace.
This duality of power and control is what transforms a simple exercise into true ballet artistry. Furthermore, we focus on the importance of the upper body. A common pitfall in fast-paced work is losing the shoulders or opening the ribcage.
Throughout the class, we provide reminders to keep the shoulders down and the core knit together, especially during the sweeping motions of rond de jambe and fondu. This ensures that while your legs are working at high speed, your port de bras remains calm and classical. Join the Broche Ballet community for this invigorating session and discover the power within your technique.
