About This Video
Welcome to an invigorating Advanced Ballet Barre session at Broche Ballet, designed to challenge your technical precision and artistic expression. This 45-minute class moves beyond the basics, introducing spicy combinations that require quick footwork, mental agility, and deep muscular control. We begin with a comprehensive warm-up, focusing on alignment and the initiation of movement from the core.
Throughout the barre, you will engage in various exercises including plié, tendu, and dégagé, each layered with complex rhythms and port de bras. Special attention is given to the développé and grand battement, where we emphasize the lift and uprightness necessary for professional-level execution. You will work through passé and retiré positions to find your center, preparing you for the balance required in demi-pointe work.
Our instructor provides detailed feedback on movement quality, encouraging you to find the tension and drama in every sequence—especially during penché and cambré stretches that test your flexibility and control. We also explore the fondu to build the strength needed for center work. The class transitions into center exercises where we apply the strength gained at the barre.
You will practice arabesque stability, the fluidity of a développé, and the precision of a pirouette. In addition to the physical challenge, this class emphasizes the 'how' and 'why' behind every movement. For instance, when performing a tendu back or tendu front, we focus on the resistance against the floor to strengthen the hamstrings and improve overall leg line.
The développé movement requires a high degree of core engagement to lift the leg while maintaining a stable, turnout-focused standing leg. We also incorporate transitions like the relevé and specific heel-toe movements to ensure your balance is grounded and secure. By the time we reach the center work, your body will be fully primed for more complex sequences.
Join us at Broche Ballet to refine your technique and keep your passion for dance alive with these challenging and fun combinations.
