About This Video
Welcome to Class #13 of the Broche Ballet Beginner Pointe 16-week program. This session is designed for adult ballet dancers who have laid the groundwork in their first twelve weeks and are ready to increase speed, precision, and endurance en pointe. In this 30-minute practice, we move beyond basic standing and focus on the fluidity and strength required for more complex combinations.
The class begins with essential foot and ankle preparation, emphasizing the importance of a proper warm-up to ensure safety and stability. You will be guided through a series of exercises that challenge your balance and articulation, including sous-sous, front and back leg movements, and the precise transition through coup-de-pied. We place a heavy emphasis on the roll down to ensure you are using your articulation to descend from the shoe's platform with control rather than dropping.
As we progress through the lesson, you will practice pique sous-sous and developate combinations to build the necessary core and leg strength for center work. We also introduce tempo variations to help you find your rhythm en pointe, focusing on bourrée and flex movements that keep the ankles supple yet supported. Throughout the class, our Broche Ballet instructor provides specific corrections on alignment and posture, ensuring that your weight is properly distributed over the box of the shoe.
We also touch upon shoe maintenance and shaping, as the fit of your pointe shoes is vital to your success and comfort. Note: Safety is our priority at Broche Ballet. Please do not start pointe work without the express approval and physical assessment of a professional ballet teacher.
