About This Video
Welcome to Class #15 of our comprehensive 16-week Beginner Pointe program at Broche Ballet. In this targeted 27-minute session, we move beyond the basics of standing on your shoes to focus on the intricate mechanics of movement. This class is designed specifically for the adult dancer, helping you develop the strength and coordination necessary for fluid, professional-looking footwork.
A primary focus of this lesson is the 'scooping' action. Rather than simply lifting the foot off the floor, you will practice scooping under and up into your transitions. This subtle shift in technique provides significantly more control and creates an aesthetic flow that distinguishes refined pointe work.
We also place a significant emphasis on timing; specifically, how to use the downward momentum of coming off the box to arrive precisely in a coupé or plié. Mastering this synchronization—learning to arrive 'all at once'—is essential for maintaining balance and rhythm as you progress to more complex center combinations and turns. The lesson includes a series of adagio exercises at the barre, which are instrumental in challenging your core stability and leg strength.
You will work on maintaining proper alignment while executing controlled movements, ensuring that your weight is correctly distributed over your toes and that your standing leg remains strong and engaged. We also incorporate specific flex and stretch sequences. These are not just for cooling down; they are vital for improving your range of motion and promoting the foot health required to sustain a long-term pointe practice.
At Broche Ballet, we believe that technique is the foundation of artistry. By focusing on these granular details—the precise timing of a transition, the strength of the supporting side, and the dexterity of the feet—you build the confidence needed to dance en pointe with both safety and grace. Join us for this practice session as we refine your technique and prepare you for the final stages of our beginner pointe journey.
