About This Video
Welcome to a dynamic session of Speed Barre at Broche Ballet. This class is designed specifically for the dancer who wants less instruction and more dancing. Our Speed Barre format allows you to dive straight into the flow of the movement, focusing on the fluidity, strength, and stamina required for intermediate and advanced positions.
In this 34-minute session, we place a heavy emphasis on the arabesque and all movements directed derrière. Working to the back requires a unique combination of spinal flexibility, core stability, and precise leg extension. Throughout the practice, you will work through a series of classic exercises including fondu, frappé, and rond de jambe.
A key technical focus of this class is the transition in and out of attitude. We often see dancers maintain a soft knee when they should be finding a clean, lengthened line; here, you will learn how to properly straighten the leg as it descends to ensure your lines are sharp and professional. Beyond leg work, this class dives deep into body alignment and posture.
Maintaining a tall, supported spine while moving the leg to the back is one of the greatest challenges in ballet. We provide cues to help you avoid common pitfalls like collapsing the lower back or losing your turnout. Whether you are looking to refine your développé or improve the rhythm and direction of your frappé, this class offers the focused repetitions you need to build muscle memory and grace.
