About This Video
Welcome to this soulful 41-minute beginner ballet barre class at Broche Ballet. This session is designed for adult beginners who wish to strengthen their foundational technique while exploring the deep emotional resonance that dance provides. In this specific class, we move with intention and heart, dedicating our practice and final réverénce to our student Denise and her late mother.
The lesson begins at the barre, focusing on the essential mechanics of the plié and tendu. A primary focus throughout this practice is posture and alignment. You will learn to maintain a long, elegant neck and avoid the common mistake of letting the head drop or 'jump' forward during balance checks and relevé.
By mastering the stability of the head and eye line, you create the poised silhouette required for classical ballet. As we transition into more complex movements, the instructor guides you through a detailed adagio sequence. Here, you will practice the développé—a movement where the leg is 'developed' or unfolded into the air.
This exercise is paired with tendu lié to help you find fluidity and weight transfer. You will also work on the fondu, focusing on the 'melting' quality of the knees to build strength and control. Throughout these exercises, we emphasize the correct port de bras, ensuring your arms move gracefully through first position to reach a beautiful arabesque.
' We explore how to use mental focus and concentration to connect with the music and express genuine emotion. The session concludes with a traditional réverénce, allowing us to show respect for the art form and support for our fellow dancers. Whether you are working on your dégagé or perfecting your demi-plié, this Broche Ballet class provides the technical corrections and emotional space needed to flourish.
