About This Video
Welcome to Week 12 of the Broche Ballet 16-week Beginner Pointe Cohort. As we move into the final third of the program, the focus shifts toward mastery through repetition. This class is designed to solidify your foundations, specifically targeting the mechanics of the échappé and the fluid execution of the pas de bourrée.
By repeating these core movements, we build the muscle memory necessary for more complex center work in the weeks to come. Our session begins at the barre, where we emphasize proper foot placement and alignment. A strong barre foundation is essential for safety and stability en pointe.
You will work through dégagé and passé exercises, focusing on maintaining turnout from the hips rather than forcing the feet. The instructor provides detailed corrections on sous-sus, ensuring your weight is centered over the box of the shoe and that the arches are engaged without over-stretching. A significant portion of this class is dedicated to échappé repetition.
This escaping movement requires a quick, controlled spring from a closed fifth position to an open second position. We break down the descent and the importance of a controlled plié to protect the joints. Alongside this, we refine the pas de bourrée.
You will learn how to keep the knees close together and maintain a steady tempo, avoiding common pitfalls like reaching too far with the leading foot. In addition to technical exercises, we cover practical aspects of pointe work, including shoe maintenance and troubleshooting your fit. Understanding how your shoes should feel during different movements is vital for your progression.
The instructor's guidance helps you identify when to relax the toes and when to hold the feet with maximum strength. Whether you are practicing at home or in a studio, this class offers the professional feedback needed to elevate your dance technique. Join us at Broche Ballet as we refine your artistry and strength en pointe.
