About This Video
Welcome to week nine of the Broche Ballet Beginner Pointe Cohort. As we move past the halfway point of this 16-week program, our focus shifts toward synthesizing the foundational vocabulary we have developed so far. This session is specifically designed to bridge the gap between isolated strength exercises and fluid coordination, helping you master the transitions necessary for more complex center work.
In this 27-minute practice, we dive deep into the mechanics of the coupé and pas de bourrée. These transitional steps are the essential 'glue' of ballet, and performing them en pointe requires precise weight placement and impeccable ankle stability. Your instructor guides you through combinations that emphasize a sharp dégagé and a controlled plié, ensuring your movements remain fluid yet stable.
We also practice the temps lié, a vital exercise for mastering the transfer of weight—a skill that becomes significantly more challenging once you are dancing on the tips of your toes. Throughout the lesson, we emphasize the importance of core engagement and proper alignment. Maintaining a lifted torso and consistent turnout from the hips is essential to prevent injury and ensure you are working correctly over the box of your pointe shoes.
We conclude the session with a focused stretching routine, including front and back stretches to maintain flexibility in the calves and hip flexors. Join Broche Ballet for this comprehensive session to refine your technique and build the confidence needed to dance beautifully en pointe.
