About This Video
Welcome to Week 10 of the Broche Ballet Beginner Pointe Cohort. This 16-week program is designed to guide you through the transition from soft shoes to dancing en pointe with confidence and technical precision. In this session, we transition into more complex movements, focusing specifically on building the speed and coordination required for intermediate pointe work.
As any experienced dancer knows, the secret to stability en pointe is the consistent application of pressure within the shoes. During this class, we emphasize maintaining that internal resistance to build necessary foot strength and stamina. We begin with a structured ballet barre warm-up that targets the intrinsic muscles of the feet, preparing you for the more demanding sequences to follow.
You will practice a variety of combinations featuring sus-sous, passé, and dégagé movements. A key highlight of this week is the long time up there combo, which challenges your endurance while executing controlled scoops, passés, and flexes. We also dive into the mechanics of the pas de bourrée, tombé, and échappé, ensuring that your weight placement is accurate as you increase your tempo.
Proper technique is paramount at this stage. We focus on keeping the heels high and the toes long inside the shoes to prevent knuckling or sinking. You will receive feedback on how to execute a clean dégagé and maintain your turn-out while moving quickly between positions.
The session concludes with a thorough stretch of the Achilles tendons and a foot shake-out to release tension. Join us at Broche Ballet to refine your pointe technique and take your dancing to the next level.
