About This Video
Welcome to a transformative session at Broche Ballet designed for the dancer ready to take their en pointe training to the next level. "Beyond the Beginner Level en Pointe" focuses on the crucial transition from the safety of two-handed barre support to the independence of one-handed work and full center combinations. This 37-minute class is structured to build the strength, stability, and confidence necessary for intermediate-level technique.
The class begins at the barre, shifting your focus toward core engagement and proper ribcage placement. You will practice specific footwork designed to strengthen the ankles and improve articulation, including demi-pointe transitions, prances, and rolling through the box. As we move to one-handed support, you'll learn how to maintain your alignment during complex movements like développé and tombé pas de bourrée.
A significant portion of this session is dedicated to center work. We emphasize the push mechanics—using both feet simultaneously to achieve the height and security needed for passé and sous-sus away from the barre. You will work through adage sequences involving chassé and arabesque, as well as piqué sous-sus combinations that challenge your weight transfer and balance.
To bridge the gap between static positions and fluid movement, we integrate port de bras and turns such as détourné. You will learn how to lead with the elbow for a clean finish and how to use your core to stay centered during cambré. By the end of this class, you will have a better understanding of how to find your center without relying on the barre, fostering the independence required for advanced en pointe performance.
Whether you are practicing at home or in the studio, Broche Ballet is here to support your journey from beginner foundations to intermediate mastery.
