About This Video
Keep your holiday momentum alive with the Boxing Day "Fabulous 15" at Broche Ballet. This high-energy, 14-minute follow-along is designed specifically for dancers who want to maintain their pointe work strength and precision during the festive season. This isn't just a simple warm-up; it is a focused conditioning session that targets the core elements of ballet technique while en pointe. The structure is designed to be continuous, challenging your endurance while keeping your mind engaged in technical execution.
Throughout the class, we dive deep into a series of nonstop exercises, starting with 16 essential relevés in first position. You have the flexibility to perform these on two legs, alternate between legs, or focus on one at a time, allowing you to tailor the intensity to your current needs. We then transition into more dynamic movements including tombé and pas de bourrée. The instructor emphasizes the importance of sliding down the foot during the tombé to maintain connectivity and control, ensuring your transitions are as fluid as they are strong.
A significant portion of the session is dedicated to the piqué passé. Here, the focus remains on proper alignment: keeping the glute forward, shoulders back, and maintaining "chill" elbows and a relaxed head. These nuances are what separate good technique from great technique. You will also practice transitioning from a piqué into a beautiful arabesque or a controlled développé, depending on your personal goal for the day. This encourages dancers to experiment with their rhythm and find a sense of individual expression even during a conditioning block.
The class also explores piqué cou-de-pied and battu elements, where you will work on the precision of picking up the leg and moving through positions with grace. To wrap up the intensive, we return to relevés in first position to fully fatigue the muscles before moving into a restorative stretching sequence. Whether your body needs a deep calf stretch or more focus on ankle mobility, this final section ensures you leave the barre feeling both challenged and cared for. Join Broche Ballet for this "Fabulous 15" and keep your pointe technique sharp and ready for the New Year.
