About This Video
Welcome to Class #4 of the comprehensive 16-week Beginner Pointe Program at Broche Ballet. In this session, we transition from foundational static exercises to more dynamic movements as we learn to put together the sous-sus and introduce the classic pas de bourrée. This class is designed to help you feel confident and secure as you navigate the unique challenges of dancing en pointe.
We begin with a careful warmup at the barre, focusing on the essential plié and relevé. Proper plié technique is the engine of all ballet movement, and it becomes even more critical when working in pointe shoes to ensure a soft landing and powerful ascent. We then move into sous-sus, emphasizing the tight, "zipped up" fifth position that creates a beautiful, streamlined silhouette.
You will learn how to maintain your turnout and alignment while pulling the legs together securely. A major highlight of this class is the introduction of the pas de bourrée. This "stepping" movement requires precise footwork and a clear understanding of the demi-pointe transition.
Your instructor will guide you through the specific rhythm, ensuring your weight distribution is correct and your cou-de-pied positions are clean. We also incorporate pas de cheval to further refine your foot articulation and control. Throughout the lesson, we emphasize the importance of repetition and patience.
Mastering pointe work is a marathon, not a sprint. We focus on movement quality, ensuring that every movement is executed with intentionality. By the end of this class, you will have the tools to perform these complex combinations with greater smoothness and confidence.
Join us at Broche Ballet as we continue to build a strong, technical foundation for your ballet journey.
