About This Video
Welcome to Class #10 of the Broche Ballet Fall 2023 Beginner Pointe Program. As we reach the double digits of our 16-week journey, this session intensifies our focus on the essential building blocks of pointe work: foot articulation, alignment, and the development of single-leg strength. This class is designed to bridge the gap between basic barre exercises and the control required for more complex center work en pointe.
We begin with a comprehensive series of barre exercises, starting with a mindful plié and tendu sequence to warm up the metatarsals and ankles. The core of today's lesson revolves around the "scooping" action in sous-sus. This specific technique is vital for beginner pointe students, as it teaches how to correctly draw the feet together under the center of gravity, ensuring stability and a clean line.
You will learn how to articulate through the demi-pointe to reach the full box of the shoe, avoiding the common mistake of jumping onto pointe. Single-leg strength is another primary focus. Through repeated relevé and coupé exercises, we challenge your balance and stability.
The instructor provides detailed cues on maintaining turnout and a neutral pelvis, which are crucial for preventing injury and achieving the aesthetic grace of classical ballet. We also delve into pas de bourrée and dégagé movements to improve dexterity. Throughout the session, Broche Ballet emphasizes the importance of breath and physical awareness.
By the end of this class, you will have a deeper understanding of how to use your floor pressure to create lift and how to engage your core to support your weight en pointe. Join us as we continue to refine your technique and build the confidence necessary for beautiful, strong dancing.
