About This Video
Welcome to the "Fabulous 15," a high-intensity ballet pointe conditioning session at Broche Ballet designed to build strength and stability. This 17-minute follow-along practice focuses on the intricate mechanics of pointework, ensuring every movement is executed with precision. Designed for dancers looking for a quick but effective way to maintain their technique, this class moves through a series of exercises that will leave your arches feeling stronger and more resilient.
Throughout the class, we dive deep into the foundations of dancing en pointe. We begin at the barre with a series of pliés, tendus, and dégagés specifically tailored to warm up the delicate muscles of the feet and ankles. A major focus of this session is the sous-sus. You will learn the importance of proper foot placement, specifically how the back foot must move up and forward to meet the front foot. By using the back arch to push the front heel into place, you ensure that your ankles are pressing forward over the box of the shoe, creating a stable and secure position.
We also tackle the "A-Shift-K" exercise, focusing on the relationship between tempo and control. You will practice bringing the back heel forward as you descend, maintaining alignment even as the speed increases. To add an extra challenge, we incorporate relevés into these sequences, mimicking the stamina required for center work and choreography.
Proper alignment is more than just an aesthetic choice; it is crucial for injury prevention. The instructor provides constant reminders to engage your core and maintain an upright posture, which takes the pressure off your joints and allows for greater control. Whether you are looking to improve your foot shape or build the endurance necessary for longer variations, this Fabulous 15 session is an essential addition to your weekly training routine. Join Broche Ballet and take your pointework to the next level.
