About This Video
Welcome to the Gentle Fast-Paced Speed Barre class at Broche Ballet, a session meticulously crafted for the dancer who craves continuous movement. This 37-minute practice is designed to bridge the gap between slow, instructional sessions and the high-energy flow of professional training. By reducing the time spent on lengthy explanations, we maximize your time at the barre, allowing you to find a deeper rhythm and more consistent cardiovascular engagement.
In this session, we move through a comprehensive series of exercises starting with the foundational plié. The emphasis is on the gentle aspect of the speed—while the tempo is brisk, the focus remains on soft, controlled landings and fluid transitions. We progress into tendu and dégagé sequences that challenge your foot speed and precision.
Moving quickly through these movements requires a high level of core stability and a strong understanding of weight placement, ensuring that every brush against the floor is crisp and intentional. One of the highlights of this Speed Barre is our focus on the fondu. Unlike more static exercises, our fondu practice emphasizes the melting quality while transitioning quickly to the next movement.
This develops the specific leg strength required for jumps and more complex center work. We also incorporate développé and cambré to ensure your flexibility and range of motion are being challenged alongside your speed. Throughout the class, we utilize en croix patterns to ensure all muscles are worked evenly.
The instructor provides real-time cues on port de bras and allongé to help you maintain your artistry even when the pace picks up. This class is ideal for intermediate to advanced dancers who want to improve their muscle memory and focus. By the end of the 37 minutes, you will have worked through a complete barre that emphasizes balance, control, and the seamless connection between every step.
