About This Video
Welcome to Broche Ballet’s Intermediate Pointe class, designed specifically for dancers looking to refine their technique and build lasting strength. This comprehensive session focuses on the intricate details that transform good pointe work into great artistry. Throughout this 38-minute practice, you will work through a series of barre and center exercises aimed at achieving straight, strong, and beautiful lines.
The class begins with a deep dive into échappé technique. Our instructor emphasizes the importance of keeping the legs active and straight, drawing parallels to the sharp energy of a frappé. You will practice the transition through plié and demi-plié, ensuring that every movement is grounded and controlled.
Mastering the échappé is crucial for intermediate dancers, as it forms the basis for more complex allegro work on pointe. Next, we transition into bourrée work. This section is all about precision and reaching.
You will learn to feel the leg reaching down toward the floor during demi-plié transitions, rather than simply straightening the leg. We focus on picking up and stretching the front leg while maintaining a high, active back leg. This attention to detail in your pas de bourrée and traveling movements creates the ethereal, floating quality synonymous with professional ballet.
In the center, the focus shifts to piqué sous-sus and stability. You will practice reaching for the floor with one leg while maintaining a strong, lifted sous-sus position. The session concludes with combinations that integrate arabesque posture and fluid transitions like the arabesque-bourrée-sous-sus sequence.
At Broche Ballet, we believe that practicing these foundational intermediate movements repeatedly is the key to building the muscle memory necessary for advanced performance. Whether you are working from home or in a studio, this lesson provides the technical guidance needed to elevate your pointe work and find your best line.
