About This Video
Welcome back to the Broche Ballet intermediate pointe series! In this week-two session, we continue our journey toward mastery en pointe, bridging the gap between foundational stability at the barre and technical freedom in the center. This 45-minute practice is specifically designed for intermediate adult dancers who have already established their foundation on pointe and are looking to refine their technical precision, strength, and artistry.
Throughout the class, we place a heavy emphasis on the mechanics of the legs, specifically focusing on the power of the back leg to drive movement and transitions. The session begins at the barre with essential exercises including plié, échappé, and sous-sus. We dive deep into the nuances of plié en pointe, focusing on maintaining alignment and control while descending and ascending through the knees.
The instructor provides detailed corrections on core engagement and hip placement, ensuring you are building the necessary strength in the quadriceps and hamstrings to support your weight safely. In the center portion of the class, we transition into more complex sequences, specifically focusing on the piqué arabesque and various turns. You will learn how to execute a soutenu and piqué turns by properly driving the back foot forward to meet the front, creating a sense of dynamic power and controlled momentum.
By focusing on the relationship between your core strength and your leg alignment, you will find greater stability in your passé positions and more height in your extensions. This class is not just about the steps; it is about understanding the 'why' behind the movement. Whether you are working on your turnout or looking to increase the speed of your footwork, this comprehensive lesson offers the tips and corrections needed to elevate your dance practice.
Join us at the barre and take the next step in your ballet journey with Broche Ballet.
