About This Video
Welcome to Broche Ballet’s comprehensive intermediate pointe series, specifically designed for adult dancers who are ready to elevate their technique and find greater stability en pointe. In this first session of our four-week intensive, we place a significant focus on the plié en pointe. While the plié is the foundation of all ballet movement, executing it while on the tips of your toes requires a unique blend of ankle strength, core control, and proper alignment.
Throughout this 44-minute class, we move through a rigorous barre sequence that challenges your articulation and balance. We begin with preparatory exercises to warm up the feet, emphasizing the "claw foot" technique to ensure you are fully utilizing the muscles of the metatarsals. As we progress, you will practice dégagé and piqué combinations that require quick shifts of weight and sharp precision.
A major highlight of this class is the focus on the tombé. We discuss the importance of trusting your feet and allowing the body to fall naturally into the movement while maintaining a held upper body. This leads into transitions toward arabesque and piqué turns, where we break down the mechanics of the "push" and the "pull" needed to stay centered.
Dancers will also work on their développé and écarté positions, focusing on the fluidity of the leg as it moves through the air. Beyond the physical movements, the instructor offers invaluable advice on pointe shoe maintenance and the necessity of proper breathing to sustain energy during complex sequences. We also touch upon the stylistic nuances required for the Fairy Doll variation, helping you bridge the gap between technical exercise and performance.
By the end of this session, you will have a deeper understanding of how to use your plié en pointe as a functional tool for more advanced movements. Join Broche Ballet and transform your pointe work with professional, step-by-step guidance.
