About This Video
Welcome to this comprehensive flexibility session at Broche Ballet, specifically designed to help dancers achieve deeper lines and a greater range of motion. This 18-minute class focuses on both standing and lying stretches to target those stubborn hamstrings and tight quadriceps, which are essential for high extensions and fluid movement on and off the stage. We begin with a gentle warm-up to prepare the body, gradually transitioning into deep stretches for the hip flexors and quads.
Throughout the practice, the instructor emphasizes the importance of a neutral pelvis and proper lower back release. By maintaining correct pelvic alignment, you ensure that the stretch reaches the intended muscle groups without straining your joints. One of the key elements of this class is the integration of breathing and relaxation techniques.
Instead of forcing a stretch, we use the breath to melt into each position, allowing the muscles to release naturally. You will also learn how to engage your core muscles even while stretching. This core stability is vital for maintaining balance and protecting your spine, whether you are on the floor or practicing at the barre.
The final segment of the class focuses extensively on the hamstrings. We alternate between each leg, holding each stretch for several breaths to encourage long-term flexibility gains. We also touch upon the calf and foot to support your overall ballet technique.
Whether you are working toward your splits or simply want to improve your pliƩ depth and arabesque height, this session provides the tools you need. We encourage you to hug your knees and find a gentle bend where necessary to protect your anatomy. Remember to listen to your body and modify movements as needed.
Our goal is progress through consistent, mindful practice. Join us on the mat and transform your flexibility with Broche Ballet.
