About This Video
Welcome to Broche Ballet’s dedicated session for intermediate dancers looking to refine their skills en pointe. In this comprehensive 45-minute class, we dive deep into the mechanics of foot articulation, speed, and upper-body coordination. Transitioning from the barre to the center requires a unique blend of strength and agility, and this session is designed to help you bridge that gap with confidence.
We begin our practice at the barre, focusing on the fundamental articulation of the foot. By emphasizing the journey through demi-pointe when lowering from the box, you will learn to maintain your turnout and control throughout every movement. Our barre sequences include precise tendu work, relevé, and sus-sous, followed by échappé and passé combinations that challenge your stability and alignment.
As we move into the center, the focus shifts toward agility and speed. One of the most common challenges for dancers en pointe is 'dwelling on the box'—staying on full pointe for too long during quick movements. We tackle this head-on with dynamic combinations involving piqué, ballonné, and pas de bourrée.
By practicing a sharp 'up and down' motion, you will develop the technical speed necessary for complex center work. We dive deeper into coordination during our arabesque and pas de basque sequences. These exercises are specifically designed to help you manage your center of gravity while moving through space.
By focusing on the relationship between your standing leg and your port de bras, you will find greater ease in your pirouette preparations. Our final couru sequences emphasize the importance of a strong core and 'fast knees,' ensuring that your weight is perfectly placed for every transition. Whether you are looking to sharpen your precision or build the stamina required for center work, this Broche Ballet class provides the tools you need to succeed.
Through consistent practice of these technical elements, you will gain the stability and grace that define advanced pointe work.
